Reminder to secure vehicles and property overnight

We have recently been contacted by a small number of residents whose video doorbells/security cameras recorded activity during the night involving individuals checking car doors in driveways in the attempt to gain entry to unlocked cars parked in driveways.

As a precaution, we are reminding all residents to take simple steps to secure vehicles and property, even when parked at home.

Please consider the following:

  • Always lock your car, including when it is parked in your driveway overnight.

  • Do not leave keys, wallets, laptops or other valuables inside vehicles.

  • Close and secure gates, sheds and garages where possible.

  • If you have outdoor lighting or cameras, ensure they are functioning and positioned correctly.

  • Report any suspicious activity as soon as possible.

If you witness suspicious behaviour or believe an offence is taking place, you should contact An Garda Síochána.

Key contact details:

  • Emergency (immediate danger or crime in progress): 999 or 112

  • Cabinteely Garda station: 01-6665400

  • Garda Confidential line: 1800 666 111 (for reporting information anonymously)

Sharing information promptly with Gardaí helps them build a clearer picture of activity in the area and respond effectively and it helps keep our estate safe for everyone.
