Cut it back!

From Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council:

Keep Our Roads and Footpaths Safe!

We are reminding householders, landowners, and occupiers to cut back overgrown hedges, trees, and bushes that overhang footpaths, cycle tracks, and roads.

✅ Hedge cutting should only take place outside the critical nesting period (1 March–31 August), unless there are road safety implications.

⚠️ Under the Roads Act, landowners are responsible for hazards caused by overgrown vegetation. Liability for damage or injury rests with the landowner/occupier, and notices may be served on those who do not comply.

Overgrown vegetation can obstruct pedestrians, wheelchair users, and cyclists, and pose dangers to motorists—especially high-sided vehicles.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe and accessible for everyone.
